My First Rejection Letter
So I have finally got it.
My first rejection letter.
And it felt good. Surprisingly enough. I was afraid it might sting like a bee but it’s not.
Anyway, the story went like this. I sent a manuscript for a short story to Shanghai Steam for their first Anthology. I had never wrote a Steampunk piece before (which may be the reason for the rejection) but I was like, what the heck, so I put together a quick piece of something quite steampunk-ish but also Wuxia-ish (though I think it was more Wuxia-ish than Steampuk-ish). The story felt good at the time, and I had a blast writing it (don’t believe me? I wrote 9 more short stories as a direct sequel to it). Anyway, so yeah, I pressed the send button in December, early December I think and have been waiting for it until the rejection mail came through my e-mail today.
It felt weird. LOL
I mean seriously, I read people who said they cried when they receive their rejection letter but me, I felt like I’ve been released from a year-long predicament.
Yeah, it’s funny. I know.
Anyway, this blog post is just to celebrate my first rejection letter. So yeah.
Till later!
